Designed and produced on behalf of the The Liberty Jump Team, the Operation Varsity T-Shirt is inspired by the courage and sacrifice of the Airborne paratroopers who jumped into Germany in what would become the largest single-day airborne operation in history.
Operation Varsity took place on March 24, 1945 and involved over 16,000 paratroopers and glider-borne troops who dropped into enemy territory in order to secure a bridgehead across the Rhine River. The Allies believed the mission could provide a direct link between their forces and the heart of Germany, allowing them to rapidly advance towards Berlin and bring an end to the war.
The operation was carried out by the 17th Airborne Division and the British 6th Airborne Division, with support from the United States Army and Royal Air Force. The paratroopers and glider-borne troops faced heavy resistance from the German defenders, and the fighting was intense. Despite this, the Allies were able to secure the bridgehead and open up a direct link to the heart of Germany. The operation was a significant turning point in the war and helped to bring about the eventual defeat of Nazi Germany.

Franklin and Thomas — the CIVVIESUPPLY* brothers — grew up in Lexington, South Carolina with a profound appreciation for the United States of America. Stories from their grandfathers — both former Army officers — about numerous family members who fought in almost every major conflict inspired the brothers to attend The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina and later join the US Army. Thomas, an Airborne and Ranger-qualified Infantry officer, served on active duty from 2016 to 2022, and now serves in the SC Army National Guard, where Franklin has served as a Public Affairs officer since 2016.
